Where Missouri Corrections Releases Go
A Barry County conviction can result in assignment to any MODOC institution selected by the state. No official source located a state prison physically in Barry County. This page therefore covers the statewide correctional system, not a local building. District 21S in Cassville is a community-supervision office and must not be mistaken for a prison.
A state prisoner may transfer within MODOC, receive parole, move to conditional release, or complete the sentence and supervision. Parole and conditional release usually put the person in the community while MODOC supervision remains active. Final discharge is different. - Read the assignment carefully. An institution points to incarceration; a field assignment can indicate probation, parole, or conditional release in the community.
- Record only dates and labels actually shown, then ask the assigned institution or field officer what they mean.
- If no result appears, use the Sunshine historical file, a MODOC records request, Case.net, and discharge documents instead of declaring discharge.

MODOC’s public supervision guide and Sunshine data layout document different layers of information. The interactive result may vary, so do not invent a “Projected Release Date” label. The historical layout instead names specific sentence fields.

One person may have multiple Sunshine lines because each charge or sentence can produce a record. Read completion and release fields at the sentence-line level. Conflicts or repeated lines should be put to MODOC with the DOC and cause numbers.
Active Missouri Release Versus Final Discharge
The active search can include incarcerated people, probationers, and parolees. A parole or conditional-release date can show movement from prison to the community while the sentence remains active. A field assignment can therefore coexist with physical release from a prison.
Complete discharge ends the relevant MODOC supervision and removes the person from the interactive search’s stated coverage. Note: A minimum, parole, or conditional-release date is not the same event as final sentence completion or discharge.

Give Constituent Services the full name, DOC number, and a narrow status question. For a person assigned to field supervision in Barry County, ask District 21S whether supervision is active, which office or officer is responsible, and whether a date represents release to supervision or final discharge. The current directory uses District 21S. An older state document uses District 44, so stale staff lists should not guide contact.

Missouri law generally requires action as soon as possible and no later than the end of the third business day after receipt. That is a response deadline, not guaranteed production by day three. A delay response should explain when access is expected. Medical, security, or other protected material may be withheld, but a request can seek segregable public parts.

From Barry County Jail to Missouri Corrections
A Barry County Detention Center timestamp can close a local booking because MODOC assumed custody. That is a transfer, not release to the community. Start with the Jail inmate file and ask for the transfer or receiving-agency entry. Then match the person in MODOC using the DOC number and Barry County cause number.
The court judgment shows the legal sentence, but its entry time need not equal the physical transfer time. The county record, state assignment, and court case form a chain. Treating any one source as the whole history risks confusing a local booking closeout with state incarceration or community supervision.
Can ICE Follow Missouri Corrections Release?
An ICE detainer may lead to another agency taking custody when a state or local term ends. ICE describes notification before release and a request for custody to continue for up to 48 hours so DHS can assume custody. This is a person-specific possibility, not a default assumption about a missing MODOC result.
No official source established a state prison or ICE detention center in Barry County. Use the ICE locator only after the correctional or county record identifies an immigration handoff. A MODOC release date remains evidence about state custody, not proof that all federal custody ended.
Does Barry Jail Move Affect MODOC Records?
The local Sheriff and jail transition affects where a family may request the county transfer record, but it does not move or rename the statewide MODOC system. The county says local offices are moving and older Sheriff text has another address. Call the Jail before an in-person visit for the county side of the custody chain.
For state records, continue using MODOC’s current statewide channels and District 21S listing. The Cassville district office is a supervision location, not the new county jail and not a MODOC prison.
Public Missouri Corrections Supervision Information
MODOC’s public supervision guide supplies a useful inventory when a person has left prison but remains active in the community. Public information can include the present offense, sentence or judgment, conviction county, supervision term, standard and special conditions, confirmation of supervision, supervising officer, office location, custody or bond status, parole or conditional-release date, Board release decision, and prior convictions. Availability still depends on the particular record and lawful restrictions.
These fields explain why a field assignment should not be called final discharge. Ask whether the person is on parole, conditional release, or probation, and whether the stated date marks physical release or the end of supervision. District 21S–Cassville serves Barry, Stone, and Taney Counties and is the direct local verification route when the active record points there.
No official public statewide probation-and-parole absconder list was found. A person alleged to be an absconder has not completed supervision, but the public offender search should not be promised to expose a special absconder flag. The Highway Patrol registry has a separate absconder function only for people covered by that registration law; it is not a general MODOC supervision search. Verify a warrant or supervision issue with the responsible office or law-enforcement agency.
Missouri earned compliance credit also concerns community supervision, not prison “good time.” Eligible compliant months can shorten an eligible supervision term, while custody, absconder status, and violation periods interrupt credits.
